@MadScientist: Sorry MS...but if that is the case, it's about time you painted it and you also owe 6 years of unpaid mooring fees. The bailiffs are on the next flight to Dusseldorf!!!

I love shots like this. Difficult lighting though Ted. There's probably about a 6-stop gap between the underneath of the bridges and the sky..... Way beyond the dynamic range of the camera. This is where HDR comes in very useful. You've managed perfectly to keep the sky from blowing out. I took a similar shot in Birmingham where a railway bridge runs underneath a motorway. I took two photos, metering for the sky and the shadows and merged them using layer masks in Photoshop.

very nice Ted!....this is one of my favourite parts of manchester although I find it very difficult to do it justice in a photograph.

@Ian Bramham: thanks Ian. You would not believe the number of times we have travelled in on the metro, enviously loooking at the bright lights of (what we wasn't sure was) Alberts Shed, unsure how to actually get there or stop off and not realising what a fabulous stroll along the canal it actualy is...so I am very grateful to you opening my eyes...even if the other half wants to move there!!! Thanks again.
