Albert Dock

What Liverpool lacks in a footy team it certainly makes up for in its historical importance to shipping, world maritime and dock design. While many world cities reclaim docks for trendy commercial use, Liverpool has carefully preserved its maritime history and won world heritage status.

I think, a consciousness of a history is very strong just in UK.
( When we lived one year in Scotland 30 years ago, I was thinking, it was too strong :)And the reason, why I was thinking in that way, were those fireplaces! I could not use coal, never even seen it and they did not store heat as our fireplaces must do . . . . Inside warmth was same as outside ( about 10 -12 Celsius ) We had used 20 -22C in our houses, but we managed well anyway :) Our children were then 8, 6 and 1 years old. We lived in small village Kinmuck in Aberdeenshire . The house was a historical Meeting house there.
A long story, why we lived just there. . . .)

Historical buildings are so much more decorative than many modern buildings and they have seen much during centuries, if they could tell all.

This is indeed a different approach, and I like it. In my city the old harbour is transformed into just another trendy lifestyle area for business consultants, fashion victims, and artsy fartsy people.

Very nice it is too Ted, though the lovely warm tones in this shot give the impression of somewhere more south than Liverpool.

@grouser: strangely enough, not this time. It was as warm as Bergamo and for a brief moment lived up to this summer's long range forcast.

Although this is becoming a well photographed area now, I quite like your interpretation. Liverpool should certainly be happy with the publicity shots generated by the Albert Dock.

@Anthony Morgan Lambert: Cheers Ant, we were really blessed with the weather and lighting that weekend...he's just one of many that the F.S.W has ununecessarily discarded since he's been in charge. I hope he scores a bucket load...but the jury is still out for me. SAF does like a punt though!
